Shillong,Sep 11: SOS Children’s Village Shillong on Monday organized a 5 day training program for the “Counsellors and Social Workers” of Child Care Institutions of Government of Meghalaya for Strengthening Children’s Homes in collaboration with Women and Child Welfare Department and State Child Protection Society (SCPCS) which will conclude on 15 of this month.
The program was formally inaugurated by Mr. T. Dkhar, Commissioner & Secretary, Women and Child Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya, Ms. Anuja Bansal, Secretary General, SOS India and Ms. S. Rynga, Joint Director, Women & Child Welfare, by lightning of lamp followed by address by Mr. T. Dkhar and Ms. Anuja Bansal.
Training will mainly focus on various social empowerment like Positive Youth Development, Resilience Building, Alternate Methods of Discipline,Safeguarding Children and Individual Care Plan to enable them to use scientifically proven techniques to take better care of the children under their care.
Other dignitaries presents during inauguration were Dr. Nandita Babu, Head Psychology Department, Delhi University, resource person for the training program , Dr. Shilpa Gupta, Professional Trainer of Common Sense Parenting, DrArchina Dhar, Child safeguarding, Mr. Sumanta Kar, Resilience Building and Mr. Shailesh Singh, Individual Care Plan.
