Shillong, May 30 – Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Friday Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma has said that citizens of the State should not be surprised if there are more cases of COVID-19 positive cases in the State with more stranded citizens returning back home.
“We should expect that there will some more cases and there is nothing unexpected but we should not be worry about as I have said because of the fact that strict screening protocol and strict testing protocol are being maintained,” he said.
“There is no chance of any kind of community transmission because of the fact that all of them will be kept in Corona Care Centres or Quarantine Centres,†Sangma said, adding that strict measures are being maintained and hopefully the State will not see any kind of mass spread of COVID-19.
Sangma said that positive cases coming up is something expected simply because these stranded people who are coming back to the Northeast are coming back from ‘Red Zones’.
He said that those coming into the States of the region are screened properly especially in Meghalaya where strict testing protocols are being maintained and screening is very strict.
Sangma also said that it is important to note that community transmission should not happen and therefore there is nothing to be alarm.
