Shillong Mar 24:  Congress candidate from Tura Lok Sabha seat, Dr Mukul Sangma appealed to all leaders particularly those who abandoned the BJP recently to join the Congress and be part of the team to save and sustain democracy.

“I am happy to see the political developments that have been unfolding in the state in the last few days. A good number of leaders from across the political spectrum are dissociating from their respective political party to allign with the Congress,” Sangma said.

He said that it is time for all responsible leaders to come together and seek the mandate of the people collectively, defeat the “fascist forces” of the BJP and its conglomerate and install a new Congress government which will restore peace, harmony , fraternity among all and usher into new era where every citizen becomes a true stakeholder in the process of growth development of the Nation.

Sangma, the former Chief Minister of Meghalaya and currently the Leader of Opposition in Assembly, is facing NPP candidate and former Union Minister, Agatha K. Sangma from Tura Parliamentary Constituency which goes to polls on April 11.
