Shillong, October 22: The Executive Committee (EC) of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has reported a significant boost in revenue collection, with ₹10.81 crore generated from Professional Tax between March and September 2025, marking a notable achievement for the new administration.
The update was presented during Question Hour of the ongoing Autumn Session of the Council, following a query by MDC Grace Mary Kharpuri (Pynursla constituency), who sought details on the revenue accrued since the present EC took charge.
Responding to the query, Executive Member in charge of Finance, Bah Seiborlang Warbah, informed the House that from March to April 2025, the Council collected ₹75,96,936, and as of September 2025, the cumulative figure had risen to ₹10,81,99,703.
Warbah attributed the improved figures to enhanced administrative monitoring, streamlined compliance processes, and stricter enforcement under the new leadership. He assured that the EC remains committed to maintaining transparency and accountability in all financial matters while further strengthening internal revenue systems.
The Finance EM also hinted that the Council would continue exploring ways to expand its tax base and improve coordination with stakeholders to ensure long-term fiscal sustainability.
Observers have described the increase as a positive indicator of the Council’s renewed focus on governance efficiency and financial discipline, following repeated calls for better revenue management in past sessions.
