Shillong, Aug. 18: The Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, today informed that sanction has been accorded to the expenditure not exceeding an amount of Rs. 12, 00,000/- only for Ex-gratia payment to the three next of kin of the affected victims whose lives were lost due to the collapse of a huge tree over the vehicles they were travelling. This incident was categorized as natural calamity.
Paul L B Lyngdoh of Nongthymmai Nongshiliang, Crystal Gale Kharnaior of Mawlai Nongkwar and Hubert Swer of Lower Mawprem met with the tragic incident triggered by heavy and continuous rainfall on the 12th August, 2017 .
