Former kick boxer to contest LS polls from Shillong seat

Shillong, Mar 15:Samuel Hashah, a former state kick boxer, on Friday announced his decision to contest from the Shillong parliamentary seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, slated to be held on April 11.

Hashah is also the president of the All Meghalaya Kick-boxing Association (AMKA) and have coached around 200 girls and 300 boys in the field of kick-boxing.

“I have decided to contest the LS polls from Shillong seat as an independent candidate,” Hashah told reporters here at a news conference.

Appealing the people of Khasi and Jaintia Hills region to vote for him, Hashah said he would raise the issue against the Citizenship Amendment Bill and demand for immediate implementation of the Inner Line Permit system to check influx and illegall immigration for protection of the indigenous population.

He said there is need to resolve inter-state border dispute and problems faced by the people residing along the international boder with Bangladesh.
