Shillong, Aug 13: Former Meghalaya legislator, Michael Sangma passed away at his residence in Tikrikilla following a massive heart attack on Tuesday morning. He was 41.

Sangma, who lost the 2018 assembly elections from Tikrikilla assembly constituency in West Garo Hills district, was elected as an Independent legislator in 2013 and supported the Congress-led Meghalaya United Alliance government headed by Mukul Sangma wherein he was inducted as Parliamentary Secretary.

In the 2018 assembly elections, Sangma was defeated by Congress candidate Jimmy D .Sangma.
