Shillong, October 22: Kitborlang Giri Jarain, who recently resigned as president of the National People’s Youth Front (NPYF), 17 North Shillong Block Executive Committee, has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Jarain was inducted into the BJP by the party’s chief spokesperson, M. Kharkrang. His joining comes days after he stepped down from his position in the youth wing of the National People’s Party (NPP).
In his resignation letter dated October 16, 2026, addressed to the president and secretary of the 17 North Shillong Block Executive Committee, Jarain cited personal reasons for his decision. He stated that he did not want his absence to cause inconvenience or affect the party’s activities and responsibilities.
Jarain also expressed gratitude to the party leadership for placing its trust in him and giving him the opportunity to serve as president of the constituency’s youth wing over the past years. He thanked the leadership for its support, cooperation and understanding during his tenure.
While wishing the party success in its future endeavours, he expressed hope that it would continue working for the betterment of the constituency, society and Meghalaya.
Although his resignation letter cited personal reasons, it did not mention any intention to join another political party or refer to political differences with the NPP leadership.
