Shillong,Oct. 7: South Shillong MLA Sanbor Shullai on Saturday laid a foundation stone for the construction of a 2.07 kilometre road connecting Dong Skul and Dong Seij at Lower Lumparing Shillong.
The road project was sanctioned at an estimated cost of Rs 1,70, 62,000 by the PWD department.
Addressing the gathering, Shullai said, “This project was realized only because of the people of these two localities and especially the land owners who had donated their land without any hassle.”
Stating that people of the state should follow the example laid by the residents of Lumparing, he said, “When it comes to attaining sanction for a project things normally tends to get delayed and files are being passed from one department to another because of land acquisition issues but here concerning this project very thing went smoothly.”
Shullai further informed that the total cost of the project will come to Rs. 2.12 crore due to additional construction of drains.
