GHADC’s member from Balachanda constituency quits BJP

Shillong , Jan 11: The BJP has lost its member in the Garo Hills Autonomous District who quit the party in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016.

The MDC, Sofior Rahman is representing Balachanda constituency to the GHADC.

Rahman sent his resignation letter to Meghalaya BJP president Shibun Lyngdoh stating, “I am resigning because of some personal problem, and I am against the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016.”

Rahman, who held the post of State President of the Minority Morcha, BJP Meghalaya Pradesh, said, “It (Bill) is totally against our indigenous people of Meghalaya and whole North East.”

The BJP is part of the NPP-led Executive Committee in GHADC.
