Govt to decide on Monday on re-opening of Ïewduh, Umroi-Kolkata air service to resume

Shillong May 23: The state government will take a call on Monday on the need to partially open main markets like Ïewduh and Khyndai Lad.

“Based on the requests from various stakeholders to open markets, a review meeting with officials was held to deliberate on the matter,” chief minister Conrad K Sangma said on twitter on Saturday.

Deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong said that during the review meeting, the need to reopen markets including Ïewduh was discussed and the deputy commissioner of East Khasi Hills district was asked to work out the modalities along with the chief secretary and come back on Monday for taking decision accordingly.

He informed that flights would resume operation between Umroi and Kolkata by next week in view of the decision taken by the ministry of civil aviation to allow air service to start.

Tynsong said that returnees from outside the state whether they come by train or flight, it is mandatory for them to undergo the RT-PCR test and they can leave the institutional quarantine centre for their respective villages only if they tested negative.
