Shillong May 17: The Hill Famers’ Union appreciated the MDA government for having approved to constitute the farmers commission which is part of the 10 points charter of demands submitted by the Union to the Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong recently.

In a statement, HFU president Commander Shangpliang said that the Union has faith that the government would announce 2020 as the ‘year of famers’ and also to implement other points of demands which are the outcome of the 1st ever farmers parliament held last year.

Meanwhile the Union urged the government to intervene and take action against unauthorised deduction of weight by middle men for all types of agricultural produces being sold in the main market ïewduh which had incurred huge losses to the famers.
