Shillong,April 24: A former leader of the Hynniewtrep National People’s Movement (HNPM) Tony Marbaniang is all gearing up to contest the state assembly elections from North Shillong, the home constituency of health minister Roshan Warjri, in 2018.
Announcing this decision here on Monday, Marbaniang, who is the son of a police constable said, “I decided to contest the election based on the several requests of residents from areas like Police Reserve, Jail Road, Punjabi-lane and others.”
Stating that he had already enrolled as member of the saffron party, he however said, “I would apply for the party ticket but the decision would be on the party.”
Asked, he said that he had voted for NOTA when he first casted his vote in 2013 adding this was because he felt that the public representatives are short sighted and do not have any future plans.
The twenty-five year old man further spelled out that the main issues he would be focusing would be on the job crisis, water problem, and others.
According to him, the mushrooming of NGOs in the state could be pointed out at the failures of the MLAs to perform.
