Shillong Jan 17: The Hynñiewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) Northern region has demanded setting up of examination centre for students of Mawhati constituency, particularly those appearing the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination.
They demanded that examination centers should be set up in areas like Umsiang, Umtrai, Korhadem, Sonidan, Umsohlait.
Addressing reporters here on Wednesday, HNYF Northern region, president Marcus Marten asked the state government to also set up new higher secondary institution in the area, adding that setting up of examination centre would be of great help for students from Mawhati, who have to travel 70 km to 80 km to Umsning, Nongpoh and Byrnihat to write their SSLC examination.
The HNYF Northern region along with a delegation of traditional heads from Mawhati area met the Joint Director of Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE), M. Marbaniang and aired their demand where they also submitted a memorandum.
Marten said that the MBoSE’s joint director has assured necessary action in the coming year since for 2018, the SSLC examination was already in full preparation.
There are five secondary schools (adhoc grant) of which,there are over 100 regular students and over 100 repeaters.
Meanwhile, member of Synjuk Ki Rangbah Shnong, Marius Jyrwa informed that few years back, the same delegation had met MBoSE officials on the same agenda.
