Shillong, Oct 13: Hundreds of youth from Mawkynrew constituency on Friday attended the General Council of the HSPDP Youth Wing, Mawkynrew Circle at Lad Kharang near Jongksha and elected its office bearers in the presence of HSPDP leaders including former MLA and party candidate for the upcoming Assembly election, Martle N. Mukhim.
In the General Council, the youth discussed about the duty and role of the youth in politics and the need to redesign Mawkynrew constituency.
In his inaugural speech, Mukhim emphazised the need to preserve customs and language, and land especially good governance that can give hope to the youth and the people of the constituency.
Expressing concern over the lack of development in the constituency, the former MLA urged the people of the constituency to be wise and not to fall into temptations.
He however hoped that the people of Mawkynrew constituency henceforth would resolve to choose the representative with conscience so that the people of the constituency would no longer be looked down because of their simplicity.
