HYC activists shout in Home Minister’s Sohïong constituency over ILP demand

Shillong, Aug 23: Hynñiewtrep Youths’ Council (HYC) activists who started a 93km walk on Tuesday from Nongstoiñ demanding implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) to check influx, halted at Mawngap on Wednesday.
The HYC activists of Nongstoiñ Circle about 70 started their march from Mairang on Wednesday after a short meeting near the memorial statue of U Tirot Sing.
On reaching Sohiong near the residence of Home Minister, H.D.R. Lyngdoh, HYC activists shouted slogans where they condemned the minister while also raising the demand to implement ILP and other strong laws that can safeguard the indigenous people.
HYC activists will continue the march from Mawngap on Tuesday till a parking lot near Additional Secretariat here.
At the parking lot, a meeting will be held after which, a memorandum would be submitted to the Chief Minister’s office on the issue.
The HYC also urged the people to be part of the rally to take part in the march as well air the problems such as lack of development in West Khasi Hill district.
