Issue of poor network connectivity discussed

Shillong, Apr 2: Ahead of the ensuing elections to Lok Sabha and bye-election to Selsella Assembly constituency and in view of the urgency of the matter, the District Election Officer, West Garo Hills convened a meeting on Tuesday with all mobile internet service providers and discussed the issue of poor network connectivity.

During the meeting, the District Election Officer, West Garo Hills, Ram Singh directed all mobile internet service providers and network operators to ensure uninterrupted services especially during election period in the entire Garo Hills region which needs to be intensified from April 6th to 12th in order to facilitate the smooth conduct of the general elections and bye-election to Selsella.

Singh also mentioned that good network connectivity is necessary for functioning of various elections related apps like CcVigil, among other, used during election, while stressing that the issue of connectivity should not hamper the process of election in all districts.

He instructed that all mobile towers and other related ancillary services should function without ceasing and they must make an effort to provide good network connectivity and arrange extra manpower in each mobile tower operation in the entire Garo Hills region to provide uninterrupted network connectivity during elections.

Moreover, he also instructed them to submit written action plan and assurance to the Deputy Commissioner office by Friday.

The Superintendent of Police, West Garo Hills district, Dr M G R Kumar and representatives of mobile and internet service providers of the region were present at the meeting.
