Dawki, Meghalaya | July 28, 2025: In a solemn tribute to the heroes of the 1999 Kargil War, the Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, in collaboration with officers from the Dawki Land Port Authority, commemorated Kargil Vijay Diwas at the India-Bangladesh border in Dawki today.
The commemorative event was held under a ceremonial tent near the Dawki border check post, where senior BSF officials in full ceremonial attire, land port officers, and local dignitaries gathered to honor the sacrifices made by India’s brave soldiers 26 years ago.
A red-carpeted pathway, covered seating, and displays of military decorum created a solemn and dignified atmosphere. The gathering observed a moment of silence in remembrance of the valiant soldiers who laid down their lives in the Kargil conflict to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty.
Addressing the audience, officials emphasized the enduring significance of Kargil Vijay Diwas, not just as a remembrance of victory, but as a day to reaffirm commitment to national security and unity. The speakers highlighted the crucial role played by the armed forces in maintaining peace, particularly along sensitive international borders like Dawki.
Observed every year on July 26, Kargil Vijay Diwas marks India’s triumph over infiltrators from Pakistan in the Kargil sector of Jammu and Kashmir in 1999. At the Dawki border, the day also served to underscore the unity and coordination between frontline security forces and administrative bodies in ensuring vigilance and border integrity.
The ceremony concluded with floral tributes, the singing of the national anthem, and a renewed pledge to uphold the legacy of courage and patriotism demonstrated by the Indian Armed Forces.
