Khasi Student’s Union FILES FIR AGAINST POLICE: WKH

Shillong,May 18: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) South West Khasi Hills District and Nonghyllam village dorbar has lodged an FIR against a sub-inspector and SF-10 commandos for allegedly beaten up three school going students.

Those named in the complaint lodged include Sub-inspector CR Marak, Balbring G Momin and Solomon R Marak of 3rd Battalion MLP, Pynshangbun Shangpliang and Mathiush Marak of SF 10.

KSU-SWKHD president Forwardman Nongrem alleged that the accused police personnel were involved in beating up three students who were under 16 years – Phaskupar Nongtnger, Manlyness Marngar and Manbha Hahshah.

The incident took place on May 17, when the students had gone for bathing near Jingaiti Secondary School, Nonghyllam.

“We strongly condemned the action by the people in uniform, who are supposed to be protectors,” he said.

The KSU has also demanded the authorities concerned to take stern action against the erring police personnel.

“We have met the deputy commissioner of the district on the matter,” Nongrem said.
