KHNAM releases Vision Document for 2018 Assembly election

Shillong, Aug 7: The Khun Hynñiewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM), on Monday released its “vision document” for the 2018 Assembly election.

The document was released by KHNAM’s chief adviser T.H.S. Bonney in the presence of other party functionaries at the party office at Jaïaw here.

Some of the highlights of the document include implementation of Inner Line Permit to check influx and illegal immigrants into the state and ensure safety and security of genuine residents of the state by bringing out legislations like the State Permanent Citizenship Registration Act and create a permanent citizenship register to maintain records of all permanent residents in the state.

The document said that KHNAM would not rest till the pending inter-state boundary problem with Assam is resolved, and assured to improve the education system to reduce unemployment by introducing skill training from school level, identify and groom talents and provide facilities for enhancement of such talents to create local experts in different fields.
The document also stressed the need to redesign tourism sector for creating employment to local youth, and create data base of all tourist spots that can generate employment, and simultaneously enhance tourism.

The document also talked about improving agriculture and allied activities and create market intelligence cell in each district to find out the best market for agricultural produce.
Moreover, the document underlined the need to build infrastructure including good road connectivity to the most remote villages of the state.

While pushing for getting Khasi language included into the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution, the document suggested the need to have an archive in the District Councils where old and new documents relating to the history, and culture will be properly maintained. The archive will also contain records of all plants and animals discovered that exist in the state.

Vowing to implement proper health policy and upgrade CHC/PHCs with latest technology and trained doctors and staff to ensure that healthcare reach every citizen of the state in minimum time and distance.

The document further stressed on the need to ensure safety of women and children and eradicate drug menace, ensure clean and corruption free governance and politics, and assured that KHNAM would set up its own vigilance cell that will keep a watch on financial dealings of each legislator and all legislators will maintain probity in public life.

“The vision of KHNAM is a government which is governed by policies most importantly, youth policy, industrial, education, and sports policy that would never enjoy any political power but will pass directly to the public to ensure government of the people, by the people and for the people,” the document stated.
