Shillong, Mar 19: The district administration of Mandya, Karnataka, has devised a rehabilitation plan for the 22 students from Meghalaya who were affected by food poisoning. Once discharged from the hospital, the students will be taken to the Rehabilitation Center or Bala Mandir Center, where they will be guided by the Child Protection Officer.

The district administration will also monitor the students’ diet plans, as prescribed by the doctor. This decision was made during a review meeting chaired by the Deputy Commissioner of Mandya District, along with various stakeholders.

Given that the students have their final exams this month, the district administration has made it a priority to ensure they can take their exams at the Bala Mandir Center.

In a related development, the Chairman of the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights met with the team from Meghalaya and conducted a joint site inspection at the school where the incident occurred. They also visited the hospital and found that the health condition of the students is improving, except for one student who remains in ICU but is stable.

Earlier, officials from the Mandya district administration agreed to share reports with the Meghalaya team, including the report submitted to the Karnataka government, arrest reports, FIR, and other relevant information.
