Shillong, Mar 19: The Meghalaya government has requested the central government to extend the enrolment and linking of beneficiaries for the Supplementary Nutrition Programme (SNP) by another six months.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, accompanied by Social Welfare Minister Paul Lyngdoh, met with Minister for Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi in New Delhi to discuss the matter.
The state government has identified significant gaps in the SNP beneficiary list, with 1,84,682 beneficiaries (31.56 percent of the total) missing out due to various reasons.
To address this, the government has intensified efforts for Aadhaar enrolment and seeding of beneficiaries.
The procurement of smartphones for Anganwadi Workers is also nearing completion, and an intensive campaign for e-KYC and facial recognition has begun.
