Shillong, Apr 18: Maram FC continued their impressive run in the 5th Meghalaya State League (MSL) with a second consecutive victory, coming from behind to defeat Balmanduri FC 4-1 in a Group G clash at Williamnagar on Saturday.
Despite this being Balmanduri’s first outing in the competition, they stunned Maram by taking the lead in the 40th minute through Ganapati Rabha. However, Maram dominated proceedings after the break, mounting a strong comeback. Santosh Teron equalised in the 51st minute before Bris Taro put them ahead in the 66th. Jakchim K Marak then sealed the result with a late brace, scoring in the 84th and 88th minutes.
The win follows Maram’s earlier 3-2 triumph over A’chik SCO Rongjeng, further strengthening their position in Group G.
In the other match of the day, Lawbah SC also staged a comeback to defeat Umlakro SC 3-2 in a Group F encounter at Mairang.
Umlakro opened the scoring in the 21st minute through Georgesteven Thangkhiew, but Lawbah responded swiftly before half-time. Mebadonbor Shangpliang equalised in the 40th minute and Fini Frankly Ramsiej added another just two minutes later to give Lawbah the lead.
Georgesteven struck again in the 61st minute to level the score at 2-2. However, substitute Kitborlang Sohtun netted the decisive goal in the 81st minute to secure all three points for Lawbah.
The MSL will observe a rest day on Sunday before resuming with a full slate of eight matches on Monday, all scheduled to kick off at 3pm across various venues:
