Shillong, Aug 1: A hardcore criminal, David Lyngdoh Marshillong, who escaped from the custody of Nongpoh police, was re-arrested from the city while travelling in a local taxi.
Marshillong, also popularly known as “Bah Jyllud (Massage Man)” was spotted by two constables of the Sadar Police Station at Laitumkhrah area, police said, after which, he was arrested.
On Monday, Marshillong escaped from the custody of Nongpoh police when he was taken for medical examination after he was detained by public.
He jumped through the sliding window pane of Nongpoh Civil Hospital where he was taken for medical examination.
The youth of Umdihar village in Ri-Bhoi district caught him after a long chase, following a complaint of theft in the house of Franky Syngkli and Plester Syngkli in the village.
Marshillong was apprehended around 3 am on Monday morning from a forest near the village and later he was handed over to Nongpoh police station.
From the possession of the Massage Man, clothes of women including underwear he had stolen were found.
Marshillong has a number of crime records and he was booked for his involvement in several cases of theft and molestation.
According to police, he would be produced in a lower court in connection with a case registered against him at Madanrting police station, and would later hand him over to Ri Bhoi police.
