Shillong, Sept 11: Congress MLA from Mawryngkneng David A Nongrum has demanded from the state government to take necessary action in removing a gate erected by the army on a road connecting Happy Valley with Mawshbuit village.
“I would like to ask the minister to take necessary action and give assurance that the department would take up the issue not only at the defence but at the ministry level to remove the gate,†Nongrum said during the question hour in the Assembly.
He said the gate has caused harassment to local residents of Mawshbuit village. Earlier in his reply, deputy chief minister in-charge PWD Prestone Tynsong said that the road is not under the jurisdiction of his department.
