Shillong, Sept 4: The Meghalaya College Teachers’ Association (MCTA) has resolved to boycott Teachers’ Day celebrations and instead, they would wear black badges in support of the “jail bharo” or “court arrest programme” to be held at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Tuesday.
In a statement issued here on Monday, MCTA general secretary, Amanda Basaiawmoit said that the agitation was a mark of protest against the apathetic attitude of the Central government regarding the 7th UGC pay revision recommendations.
The MCTA informed that as per the resolutions adopted at the All India Federation of University and College Teachers Organisations (AIFUCTO) National Executive Committee meeting at New Delhi, it was decided that the “jail bharo” or “court arrest programme” will be held at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Teachers’ Day.
