MDA ministers, Shillong MP meet Rijiju for National Games

Shillong, Aug 18: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Sports and Youth Affairs, Kiren Rijiju has assured to extend financial help to Meghalaya for hosting the National Games in 2022.
The assurance was given to a joint delegation of Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) ministers – AL Hek and Banteidor Lyngdoh – and Congress MP from Shillong, Vincent H Pala, who met him at the SAI office, New Delhi.

During the meeting, Meghalaya Sports Minister, Banteidor Lyngdoh told the Union Minister about the proposed artificial turf for football in the state.

Health Minister AL Hek also sought the intervention of the union minister for upgrading and improving the Shillong Golf Course for the upcoming National Games.

The Union Sports Minister has agreed to help sanction the projects.

For the upcoming National Games, the state has appointed a Project Management Consultant (PMC) and strategic planning and road map to be ready by the end of this month. They also discussed about the proposal for funding the construction of a stadium in Shillong.
