Shillong, May 11: Meghalaya U-20 Football Team stamped their authority on Group A of the U-20 Men’s National Football Championship 2026 with a commanding 5-0 victory over Jharkhand U-20 Football Team in Narainpur, Narainpur on Sunday.
Though the kick-off was shifted from the morning to the evening, Meghalaya showed no signs of disruption as they dominated the contest from start to finish.
Mebanlamlynti Masharing opened the scoring in the 19th minute and went on to complete a superb hat-trick with two more goals in the 73rd and 87th minutes.
The other goals came from Menangpyndap Khongjee in the 27th minute and Damitre Kynjing in the 67th minute.
The emphatic result marked Meghalaya’s second consecutive victory in the tournament after their 3-1 win over Bihar U-20 Football Team two days earlier.
Meghalaya will next take on Andhra Pradesh U-20 Football Team on Wednesday at 4:15 PM.
