SHILLONG, MAY 14: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday said the second phase of border negotiations with Assam will be revived soon, once the new government in the neighboring state assumes office.

Asked about the timeline for resolving the six remaining areas of difference, Sangma said he would reach out to his Assam counterpart after allowing a brief period for the new administration to settle in.

“The new government is being sworn in Assam. Therefore, let a few days pass. I will communicate with the Assam chief minister and we will definitely take the discussion forward very soon,” Sangma said.

Sangma stressed that dialogue remains the preferred route. “We will definitely take the discussion forward very soon,” he said, signalling that chief ministerial-level engagement will resume shortly.
