Meghalaya BJP accuses Congress of dividing country on religious lines

Shillong, Nov 2: The BJP Meghalaya unit has alleged that all attempts were being made by the Congress to divide the country on religious lines and create tensions, fear psychosis to distract attention from major issues concerning the State.

“What the BJP and Prime Minister, Narendra Modi did was not anti-minority but pro-poor, pro-farmers, pro-women reforms, for larger interest of the society and not for any particular class of society,” the party said in a statement issued here on Thursday while reacting to AICC leader, Rejaul Karim Laskar’s recent allegation that BJP is anti minority.

The BJP said that the Congress wanted to replace the agenda of the BJP on anti-corruption with anti-minority which is not so convincing for the people of the State.

“Narendra Modi is anti-minority if and only if the minority is against the nation and not maintaining the dignity of India,” it stated.

It also stated the publicity stunt carried out by the “soft heads” Congressmen and its by-products over the years will not hinder the progress of the party.

“Let us wait for the verdict in 2018 where the truth will be known to the people of state, who the real enemy of minorities is,” the BJP said.
