Shillong, Sept 20: The state Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) organised a protest rally here on Wednesday to denounce corrupt practices and accused the present Congress-led government of indulging in various scams and irregularities.
The protest was held at a parking lot near Additional Secretariat where BJP youth members shouted slogans against the state government and displayed placards opposing corrupt practices in the state.
State BJP president Shibun Lyngdoh and other party workers also joined the rally in support of the BJP youth wing.
State BJYM, president, Egenstar Kurkalang said that the protest rally was held to oppose corruption in the state government and its and departments.
The BJP highlighted the alleged education scam relating to irregularities in the appointment of assistant teachers in lower primary government schools in the state besides failures of the Congress-led government to establish an engineering college, construction of new building of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.
Kurkalang alleged that due to corrupt practices, the present MUA-II government has failed to perform its duty and responsibility for the people.
The BJP also pointed out that the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited and other state companies are in debt.
