SHILLONG, JUL 16: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday chaired a review of the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary department and directed officials to set clear targets to bridge the gap between demand and supply.

After the meeting, Sangma said the focus was on improving departmental performance and strengthening support for farmers.

“We discussed specific goals, especially on demand and supply, and measures to reduce that gap. We also looked at how to enhance livelihood opportunities for farmers and create space for entrepreneurs in the sector,” he said.

The CM said key issues such as manpower shortage, feed supply, vaccination programs and veterinary hospital infrastructure were also reviewed.

“All these aspects were discussed in detail,” he added.

Sangma said the government will hold another review in the coming weeks to finalize the action plan for the sector.
