Shillong, July 21: The Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) will send a delegation to New Delhi to express solidarity with the protest organised by the Citizens’ Justice Platform (CJP) and other groups demanding a fair investigation into the alleged irregularities in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) and comprehensive reforms in the country’s education system.

Addressing the media on Tuesday, Meghalaya Congress leader Banphira Basaiawmoit (Sevada) said the delegation will meet the protest leaders, interact with participants, and assess the situation on the ground.

He said the visit goes beyond a symbolic gesture, reflecting the Congress party’s commitment to standing with students and citizens seeking a transparent, fair and accountable education system.

“The concerns raised by students and civil society must be addressed with seriousness. If corrective measures are not taken now, similar issues are likely to recur in the future,” Basaiawmoit said.

Describing education as the foundation of the nation’s future, he stressed that any form of injustice, lack of transparency or malpractice in the conduct of examinations is unacceptable and undermines public trust in the system.

Basaiawmoit further stated that the Congress party will continue to support the legitimate demands of students and the public while advocating for a fair, transparent and corruption-free examination process across the country.

He also urged the Central Government to take immediate and effective measures to ensure accountability, strengthen the integrity of national examinations, and restore public confidence in the education system.

The Congress delegation is expected to engage with protest organisers in New Delhi as part of its effort to support calls for greater transparency and reforms in the conduct of national-level competitive examinations.
