Meghalaya govt to take up implementation of ILP with Union Home Minister

Shillong, Jan 19: The Union Home Minister, Amit Shah will attend the 69th Plenary Session of North Eastern Council (NEC) to be held in Shillong, Meghalaya on January 23.

Meanwhile, the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) will be meeting Shah and discuss the implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the state.

On Tuesday, a meeting of the MDA was held to discuss on the issues that needs to be deliberated with the Union Home Minister.

“The MDA coalition will take up the resolution of the State Assembly to implement ILP in the state, the demand for inclusion of Khasi and Garo language in the Eight Schedule, the amendment to Sixth Schedule and the border dispute with Assam,” Tynsong informed.

The Deputy Chief Minister also informed that Shah will return to Guwahati the same day.

The 69the plenary meeting which will conclude on January 24 would also be attended by the  Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) & Vice Chairman, Dr. Jitender Singh and members of NEC consisting of the Governors and Chief Ministers of the eight North-Eastern states.

Dr. Singh today held a meeting with senior officers of MDoNER and NEC in New Delhi to review the preparedness and modalities for the 69th Plenary Session of NEC at Shillong.

During the two-day session there will be presentations from Ministry of DoNER, NEC, the State Governments as well as selected Central Ministries on various developmental initiatives and future plans for the North East Region.

The Plenary is expected to deliberate on the progress of ongoing projects, confirmation of the proceedings of the 68th Plenary meeting, outlays by Central Ministries in the North Eastern Region and plans for the period beyond March 2021 during the term of the Fifteenth Finance Commission.
