Shillong, May 21: Meghalaya marked a significant milestone in sustainable architecture and rural development with the launch of the state’s first eco-sustainable habitat initiative, the Pine Home Project.
The building component of the project has been developed at a cost of ₹2 crore, while the total project outlay stands at ₹4 crore. Funding support has been provided by Meghalayan Age Limited and the Directorate of Tourism, Meghalaya.
The initiative is being implemented by Picasso Pupils – An Art Society in collaboration with Saitsnad Multipurpose Co-operative Society and Emage Architecture Studio.
The inaugural programme was attended by M. Mawroh as the Chief Guest. Resource architects Jozef Fugger and Marek Guga also participated in the event, sharing their expertise and insights on sustainable design, eco-friendly construction practices, and environmentally conscious habitat development.
The Pine Home Project is expected to promote sustainable living practices while strengthening rural development and eco-tourism initiatives in Meghalaya.
