Meghalaya legislators’ monthly salary cut by Rs 8000

Shillong, Oct 11: The Meghalaya Cabinet has approved an ordinance for cutting down the salary of MLAs in the state.

Chief minister Mukul Sangma told reporters after the Cabinet meeting that the salary of legislators will come down by Rs 8,000 from the present total emolument of Rs 2.10 lakh a month.
The proposal to cut down the salary through an ordinance was brought before the cabinet by the state parliamentary affairs department.

Mukul said that after the reduction by Rs 8,000, the total salary including other perks and allowances of each MLA will come down to Rs 2.02 lakh a month.
