Meghalaya on track to normalcy, Mobile internet restored

Shillong, Mar 05, 2020 : In a big relief to the people of the state The Meghalaya government has lifted the temporary suspension of mobile internet service in region of Khasi Hills on Thursday morning .

Earlier, the  suspension of mobile internet in the two districts of Jaintia Hills region was lifted on Tuesday.

On the other hand  the curfew has also been relaxed in most parts of Shillong city, areas including Bara Bazaar, Paltan Bazaar, Stand Jeep Motphran and the whole cantonment area has been relaxed from 6:00AM to 1:00PM of March 5, 2020.

Whereas the entire area of Police Bazaar has been relaxed from 9:00AM to 4:00PM of March 5, 2020.

Earlier, mobile Internet services were suspended in six districts of Meghalaya — East Jaintia Hills, West Jaintia Hills, East Khasi Hills, Ri Bhoi, West Khasi Hills and South West Khasi Hills districts — since 10 pm on Friday last week following violence in Ichamati in East Khasi Hills district in which one person was killed. SMS services of all mobile service providers were also limited to only five SMS per day.
