Shillong, Apr 22: The Ri-Bhoi District Police conducted a counter-insurgency operation on April 21, 2025, and arrested Khundongbam Herojit Meitei, a member of the banned terrorist organization Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) – People’s War Group (PWG).

Meitei was arrested from Nongthymmai, 15th Mile, Byrnihat, Ri-Bhoi district at around 8:30 pm on April 21.

Two mobile phones and other incriminating materials were seized from his possession.

Meitei was previously arrested in Manipur for possession of an illegal firearm and in Dimapur in 2018 for a drug trafficking case

A case has been registered at Nongpoh Police Station, and an investigation is ongoing.

The Meghalaya Police are taking strict action against anti-social and anti-national elements, keeping a sharp watch on their activities.
