SHILLONG, OCT 3: The President’s Colour Presentation Ceremony for Meghalaya Police, slated for October 5 at JN Stadium, has been deferred as Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Meghalaya has been called off.

Shah was scheduled to attend the ceremony as chief guest to present the prestigious President’s Colour to the state police force.

Sources said the event could not proceed following the last-minute cancellation of the Home Minister’s tour.

Meghalaya Police on Friday issued a press release stating, “It is hereby informed that the President’s Colour Presentation Ceremony for Meghalaya Police scheduled to be held on Monday the 5th October, 2026 at J.N. Stadium, Shillong stands cancelled due to unavoidable circumstances.”

“The new date of the ceremony will be announced in due course. Inconvenience caused is deeply regretted,” it said, requesting dignitaries, officers, media and the public to take note.
