Meghalaya to host 3rd National Muay Thai Muay Boran Championship

Shillong, Nov 1: The 3rd Muay Boran Association of India (MBAI) National Muay Thai Muay Boran Championship, 2017 will be held at SAI-STC NEHU Complex, Shillong from November 2 to 5.
The championship will be inaugurated by Meghalaya minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Zenith Sangma on November 3 at 2 pm.

Addressing a press conference here, Muaythai Association of Meghalaya president, Angelus Sun termed it a proud moment for to the state to host the national championship of Muaythai and Muay Boran, also known as ‘King’ of martial art.

Around 300 participants from different parts of the country including 60 participants from Meghalaya will take part in the championship to be organized by the Muaythai Association of Meghalaya.
The event will be held in different categories for boys and girls depending on their age and weight.

MBAI president Prasenjit Singha said it was high time that the martial art be included in schools as a one of the subjects especially when the Government of India has recognized martial art as way of life.

Stating that girls can defend themselves during adverse situation through martial art, he said, “We visit schools, colleges and various places to educate girls and create awareness on self defend through combat technique,” he said.
