Shillong, March 08: Three persons, including two women and a five-year old child were killed and 38 injured in an accident in East Jaińtia Hills district today.
Police said the one pick up car that carried over 40 people from Nongryngkoh and Moknor village to take them to PHC Saipung for free health check-up overturned at Khannar village killing two women – Rophina Paslein, Kalbina Pakem and the child Laipynhunlangki on the spot.
Sources said that 24 suffered head injuries, and 14 of them had minor injuries.
Police said that investigation is on into the incident.
The injured were taken to PHC Saipuang for first aid and some patients were referred to Jowai hospital with the help of 108 Ambulance.
