Shillong, Feb 21: IPS officer, Lalatendu Mohanti on Wednesday took over charge as inspector-general of the Border Security Force, Meghalaya frontier here.
Mohanti replaced P.K. Dubey who has been posted as inspector-general of the BSF academy, Tekanpur.
A statement issued by the BSF here, said that Mohanti has come on his permanent posting from Subsidiary Training Centre, Churachandpur in Manipur.
Mohanti is an IPS officer of the 1989 batch of the Jammu and Kashmir cadre. He has been conferred the President’s police medal for meritorious service and “Indian Police Medal” and has served in the valley of Jammu and Kashmir.
The new inspector-general on taking charge, emphasized the use of technology for effective border management in order to prevent and curb trans-border crimes.
He also called for maintaining cordial relations with the border population, respecting human rights, and welfare of troops.
