SHILLONG, AUG 14: East Khasi Hills police are yet to make any arrests in connection with the petrol bomb attack at the Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board (MSPCB) office earlier this month.

SP Vivek Syiem on Friday said the investigation is in progress and senior officers will review the case soon. “The investigation is still on and we will be having a review very soon,” Syiem told reporters. Pressed for updates, he added, “As I said, the investigation is on.”

According to police, the incident took place around 12:10 PM on August 3.

Two masked men on two scooters entered the MSPCB premises and hurled petrol bombs.

One of the devices hit the outer wall of the building, leaving scorch marks. No injuries were reported. Personnel rushed to the spot soon after receiving information and the Crime Scene Unit collected evidence from the area.

An FIR has been registered at Laitumkhrah Police Station vide Case No. 121(08)2026 under sections 324(3)(6)/326(g)/3(5) of the BNS. In the wake of the attack, security at the MSPCB premises has been stepped up.
