No illegalities will be allowed, says Home Minister

Shillong Feb 12: Home Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui said that no illegalities would be allowed to take place in the state.

The minister’s statement came after the he took charge as the new home minister, in the place of James K Sangma on Wednesday.

“We cannot allow illegalities to happen and allow it to grow roots,” Rymbui told reporters.

Rymbui said that it is part and parcel of his duty and responsibility to serve the state and thanked the chief minister, Conrad K Sangma for entrusting him with the responsibility.

He said that his priority is to see that peace and tranquillity is maintained and the role of police is to ensure law and order and tackle illegalities.

He also said that his task would be to see that there is confidence among the people.

On recent incidents of attacks on Indian villagers by Bangladeshi criminals along the India-Bangladesh border recently and last week, Rymbui said that criminals should be dealt with firmly, and stressed on the need to have a close coordination between the state police and the BSF.
