Shillong, May 19: The Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills, Shillong has informed the general public that the Padma Awards namely, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri will be announced on the occasion of Republic Day 2018.
The awards seek to recognize ‘work of distinction’ and are given for distinguished and exceptional achievements/services in all fields of discipline such as Art, Literature and Education, Sports, Medicine, Social Work, Science and Engineering, Public Affairs, Civil Service, Trade & Industry etc. All persons without distinction of race, occupation, position or sex are eligible for these awards.
