Despite many people from the Raid Nonglyngdoh community embracing Christianity, their love for preserving cultural heritage and identity remains strong.
The Raid Nonglyngdoh, under the Nongpoh Elaka Sirdarship, proudly celebrates the Shad Sajer festival, a cherished tradition passed down through generations. Notably, the 17th Shad Sajer ceremony was held without rituals, yet it showcased vibrant traditional costumes, dances, songs, and the local brew ‘Iad Um’. Raid leaders emphasized that despite abandoning rituals, they prioritize imparting customs, traditions, music, and dance to younger generations.
The event was graced by prominent guests, including Jirang MLA Sosthenes Sohtun, Nongpoh MDC Smti Rona Khymdeit, Former Nongpoh MDC Shri Balajied, Chairman of Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong Ri Bhoi District Shri BB Makdoh, Lyngdoh of Raid Nongpoh Shri Linus Lyngdoh and Raid Lyngdoh of Nonglyngdoh Shri Sensi Lyngdoh and others.
