SHILLONG, APR 29: A government-empanelled team is studying the demand by 108 emergency service staff for absorption into the state, Health Minister Wailadmiki Shylla said on Wednesday, adding that the process will be fast-tracked once NHM Mission Director returns from election duty in South India after May 5.

The minister acknowledged constraints on both sides. “Because see now the 108 staff have their own sets of concerns and you also know the government also have their own limitation,” he said.

To find a workable solution, a study is underway. “That is why we have empanelled one team to do some kind of a study on how we can accomodate them, how we can look after their concerns and also the government won’t have to give much,” Shylla said.

He said the workers have been briefed and the department is waiting on the findings. “I already shared all these things with them and we are awaiting for that report.”

On timelines, the minister said the return of the NHM MD will move things forward. “Nevertheless, I have given my word as right now MD of NHM is on election duty in South India and he will be coming back after May 5. Once he comes back, we will sit and try to speed up the matter.”
