Nongpoh, August 13: Patarim village under Umsning in Ri Bhoi District on Thursday began its Silver Jubilee celebrations, marking 25 years since the village attained full-fledged village status.

The celebrations were organised under the leadership of Rangbah Shnong Korting Warjri, with the participation of shnong leaders, Rangbah Dong, members of the Dorbar Shnong Executive Committee, the Seng Samla Shnong and the Seng Kynthei Shnong.

The inaugural programme was attended by Umsning MLA Dr Celestine Lyngdoh, Umsning Town Dorbar Chairman Rocky Kylla, Umsning Parish Priest Fr Pius Shadap, NPP Ri Bhoi District President Clement Mawlong, Umsning Police Station Officer-in-Charge K. Islam, and others.

As part of the formal commencement of the Silver Jubilee celebrations, the Jubilee flag of Patarim village was hoisted by MLA Dr Celestine Lyngdoh.

A major highlight of the occasion was the launch of a new ambulance service for the village. The ambulance was secured by the Patarim Seng Samla with assistance from the Chief Minister through the Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund (CMSDF).

The ambulance is expected to provide an important emergency service to residents, particularly by helping transport sick and critically ill patients to hospitals and other healthcare facilities when required.

The ambulance was formally launched by Dr Celestine Lyngdoh, MLA of Umsning, while Fr Pius Shadap blessed the vehicle through prayers.

The programme was attended by Rangbah Shnong Korting Warjri, Seng Samla President Charles Kylla and members of the youth organisation, along with leaders and members of the village women’s organisation.

The Silver Jubilee celebration marks an important milestone for Patarim, while the new ambulance service adds a significant community welfare initiative to the occasion.
