Shillong Feb 10: Annoyed over the delay of the Central government to call the state delegation for a meeting to discuss over the demand to implement the Inner Line Permit (ILP), the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) said that it has discussed the matter with the chief minister, Conrad K Sangma, and suggested him that the state government should be more aggressive.
“We met the Chief Minister and we expressed our concern over the delay of the Central government to hold discussion on the ILP issue,” PDF legislator, Hamletson Dohling said.
He said that the state government should put pressure and more aggressive in asking the Centre to have a discussion on this issue.
Dohling said that the Chief Minister had informed that recently he had met Union Home Minister, Amit Shah only to brief him about the resolution on ILP which was passed by the state Assembly on December 19 last year, and requested the Union Home Minister to fix a meeting with the state delegation to discuss on the ILP issue.
Earlier, Shah had assured the chief minister that he would call the meeting after the Delhi elections.
Dohling said that his party which is part of the MDA government would wait for the Centre to call the state delegation to Delhi to discuss the matter.
“Only after discussing with the Centre, we will know whether we will get the ILP or not, and the state delegation is waiting for the meeting with the Union Home Minister,” Dohling said.
On the delay by Shah to call the meeting, Dohling said, “being a minister for the whole country, it is not easy. That’s why it took time and even when we met him (Shah) last time, it was at 12.30 am.”
