Nongpoh, June 15: Hard work and dedication are often the keys to success, and individuals who excel through perseverance become inspirations for others striving to achieve their goals. One such personality from Meghalaya is Alan Sun Marbaniang, who has earned widespread recognition for his outstanding achievements in arm wrestling at the state, national, and international levels.
In recognition of his remarkable accomplishments, the Superintendent of Police of Ri Bhoi District, Giri Prasad, accompanied by Additional SP O Massar, felicitated the champion athlete on Monday. Marbaniang is currently serving as a police personnel at the Nongpoh Police Reserve in Ri Bhoi District.
Recently, Marbaniang participated in the 4th PAFI National Arm Wrestling & Para Arm Wrestling Championship 2026, held in Gujarat, where he delivered an impressive performance and secured the gold medal, bringing laurels to Meghalaya and the state police force.
Speaking on the occasion, SP Giri Prasad said that Marbaniang’s achievement is a matter of immense pride for the District Executive Force (DEF) of Ri Bhoi as well as for the Meghalaya Police as a whole. He noted that having dedicated sportspersons like Marbaniang within the police force not only enhances the reputation of the department but also serves as a source of inspiration for the youth of the state.
The SP further remarked that Marbaniang’s success sends a positive message to young people, encouraging them to pursue sports and channel their energy into constructive activities while staying away from the various social evils prevalent in society.
Also present during the felicitation programme was Rocky Kylla, President of the Ri Bhoi Arm Wrestling Association. The felicitation ceremony was held at the office chamber of the Superintendent of Police, Ri Bhoi District, in Nongpoh.
